What the demo shows you

Five things worth clicking through on first login. The Egypt CFO user sees ETA-formatted invoices and EGP books.

  1. 1

An ETA-formatted sales invoice with serial numbering

Sales → Invoices → pick any invoice to Nile Delta Distribution Co.. The serial number, ETA payload, and 14% VAT line are all generated. The portal-handoff payload is visible.

  2. 2

USD-priced Turkish concentrate rolling into EGP COGS

AP → suppliers → Anatolian Concentrates Turkey. Concentrate priced in USD, receipt FX captured, landed cost composed in EGP with freight + customs duty. Every cost rolls cleanly into average cost.

  3. 3

5% withholding tax on services invoice

AP → freight services → see WHT 5% calculated at invoice entry, posted to a separate liability account, and surfaced in the WHT remittance report at month end.

  4. 4

Nile Guava Juice 1L costing breakdown

Manufacturing → BOMs → guava juice 1L. Multi-level rollup from guava concentrate (Egyptian local) → bulk mix → packaged finished good. Standard cost is EGP 36; sell price EGP 62.

  5. 5

Distributor terms — Nile Delta + Mediterranean

AR → customers → Nile Delta Distribution Co. (EGP 1.2M credit limit, Net 60). The Egyptian distributor terms model — bigger credit, longer payment, regional concentration in Cairo/Alexandria/Tanta/Asyut/Ismailia — is all in the seeded data.

The Egypt F&B landscape — what AION is built for

Egypt is the largest F&B consumer market in the Arab world — 110 million people, a young median age, and a rapidly urbanizing middle class. The country is a net food importer with deep domestic processing capacity in juice, dairy, bakery, frozen, and confectionery. Cairo, Alexandria, and the Nile Delta concentrate most factory production, with distribution radiating to Upper Egypt and Sinai.

Three pressures define Egyptian F&B accounting:

  • The EGP has devalued significantly since 2022. Most concentrate suppliers are abroad — Turkey, Brazil, Germany, China. Factories that don't track FX at receipt and reconcile to EGP COGS bleed margin without seeing it.
  • ETA e-invoicing is mandatory and well-enforced. The Egyptian Tax Authority's e-invoicing platform requires serial-numbered submissions for every B2B transaction. Late or malformed submissions trigger penalties.
  • Withholding tax (WHT) at 5% on most services. Plus 14% VAT on goods. Egyptian F&B factories run roughly 4–6 tax types simultaneously (VAT in, VAT out, WHT, payroll tax, corporate tax, customs duty), and the WHT-to-VAT-to-COGS interaction needs to net out correctly at month-end.

The Nile Foods demo BG is sized to a mid-tier Egyptian F&B manufacturer — EGP 50M annual revenue, 25 employees, 12 customers ranging from Carrefour and Spinneys (NET 15, fast-paying retail chains) to Nile Delta Distribution (EGP 1.2M credit limit, NET 60 distributor terms). 10 suppliers, including 4 international concentrate sources, are seeded with realistic payment terms and currencies.

What AION does that matters most in Egypt

ETA e-invoicing with serial numbering

Every invoice generates the ETA-formatted document with the required serial number, line-item structure, and tax breakdown. The portal handoff is configurable.

USD / EUR / TRY landed cost in EGP

Receipt FX captured at the moment the goods land. Landed cost composes freight + customs + duty into a single EGP unit cost that rolls into inventory and average cost.

WHT 5% auto-applied on services

Service invoices auto-deduct 5% WHT, post the liability to the correct GL account, and feed the monthly WHT remittance report. No manual computation per invoice.

Arabic-first for Egyptian finance teams

MSA accounting terminology is native. Egyptian finance staff don't need to learn an English mental model. RTL layouts, Arabic reports, bilingual data exports.

Distributor-heavy AR model

Egyptian F&B sells through distributors more than direct retail. AION's credit limit, aging, and partial-shipment models are built for NET 60 distributor terms with EGP 1M+ credit lines.

Costing for high-yield local concentrate

Egyptian mango and guava concentrate from local processors run different yield curves than imported. Multi-level BOM with phantom items handles the recipe variation per source.

Compliance deep-dive

ETA e-invoicing — how AION handles it

Egypt mandates 14% VAT and the ETA e-invoicing platform with serial numbering for every B2B invoice. AION generates ETA-formatted documents, applies the serial numbering rules, and submits via the ETA portal handoff. Withholding tax (typically 5% on services) is captured at invoice entry.

Regulator: Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) · VAT rate: 14% · Format: ETA-SERIAL

Egyptian factory ERP — common questions

Can AION submit directly to the ETA portal?

AION generates the ETA-compliant document and serial number. The actual portal submission is a configurable handoff — many Egyptian businesses use a clearance partner registered with ETA; others submit via the official ETA portal. We don't lock you into a specific provider.

How does AION handle the EGP / USD volatility?

Every supplier invoice captures the currency and exchange rate at receipt. Inventory cost layers store the EGP equivalent at the moment of receipt. When the EGP devalues further, your existing inventory keeps the lower cost basis — but new receipts cost in correctly. FX gain/loss on AP settlements posts automatically via the SLA engine.

Does AION handle Egyptian payroll tax + social insurance?

The payroll module computes Egyptian income tax brackets, social insurance contributions (employer + employee shares), and posts gross-to-net automatically. The output feeds the monthly payroll bank file format. Specifics vary by employee category — the seeded Nile Foods demo has 25 employees with realistic salary ranges to explore.

What about multi-warehouse — Cairo + Nile Delta + Alexandria?

AION's organization model supports multiple inventory locations under one legal entity. Each warehouse tracks its own stock, and inter-warehouse transfers post the right journals. The Nile Foods demo has separate raw materials, finished goods, and production warehouses already set up.

Can we run AION on a local Egyptian server?

Yes. Local-first deployment is supported — you run AION on your own infrastructure and your data never leaves your network. For Egyptian businesses concerned about data sovereignty or unstable cross-border connectivity, this is the recommended setup.
